Abstract
Environmental control has been a subject frequently addressed in chapters or review articles in the medical literature on the management of allergic patients. The author's title often is "House Dust Eliminations." However, producing the optimal air for inhalation requries an understanding of not only the particulate components of allergens but also the particulate components of specific and nonspecific inhalant irritants, as well as the gaseous components allergens and irritants. This review addresses the health consequences to the pulmonary patient with mucocillary impairement and also the results of both allergen and irritant exposure in the allergic patient.
