Abstract
When one considers the vast numbers of prescriptions written for penicillins on an annual basis, it is easily appreciated that penicillin-related allergic reactions represent a potential, significant worldwide health problem. Penicillin is the most common cause of antibiotic-induced anaphylaxis. This issue is discussed, along with representative examples of penicillin-induced allergic reactions.
