Abstract
Nine hundred sixty-three high school pupils were examined in Holon; 9.56% of them were diagnosed as asthmatics, and 67% of them suffered from exercise-induced asthma (EIA). The school achievement of the asthmatics was not lower compared to the other pupils in the same classes, although the absenteeism in days was higher than the mean absence in days in their class. All the asthmatics treated and followed at the respiratory unit who were consistent in taking medication participated regularly in gymnastics. Their grades were not lower than the mean grade in their class. My conclusion is that asthmatic pupils can achieve significant, average grades in both intellectual and physical school lessons.
