Abstract
Selected anxiety disorders, particularly panic disorder with agoraphobia, occur much more frequently in women. Researchers have few explanations for this phenomenon. This paper presents epidemiologic data on the rates of anxiety disorders in men and women and discusses hypothetical contributions to these differences in rates.
