Retracted: Dexmedetomidine Exerts Brain-Protective Effects Under Cardiopulmonary Bypass Through Inhibiting the Janus Kinase 2/Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 3 Pathway

Abstract

The article entitled, “Dexmedetomidine Exerts Brain-Protective Effects Under Cardiopulmonary Bypass Through Inhibiting the Janus Kinase 2/Signal Transducers and Activators of Transcription 3 Pathway” by Jijun Xiong, Jie Quan, Chaosheng Qin, Xiaogang Wang, Qinghua Dong, and Bingdong Zhang (2020;40(2):116–124; doi: 10.1089/jir.2019.0110) is officially retracted from Journal of Interferon & Cytokine Research after the Editor received a request to withdraw the paper after publication. A communication received from the corresponding author, Bingdong Zhang, said, verbatim:

“I chose pharmaceutical research based on the advice of my supervisor, but I did not retrieve another article that had already studied relevant content at that time. Although the results of the two articles are consistent, the innovation of my article are seriously declined. So the manuscript needs to be withdrawn for data supplement. All the authors approve this decision.” [sic]

The publisher of JICR contacted each of the authors listed on the paper and received confirmation emails agreeing with the corresponding author's request.

Since this article published data purported to be original, but has been identified as being previously published, the Editor officially retracts the paper from the literature in the interest of protecting the validity of original research.
