Abstract
Embryonal carcinoma cells (F9) were resistant to the inhibitory effects of interferon (IFN) on viral multiplication and cell division in vitro. Nevertheless, daily administration of IFN resulted in a marked inhibition of the growth of this carcinoma injected intraperitoneally (ip) and increased mouse survival time. An incidental finding was that daily IFN treatment increased the serum level of α-fetoprotein in normal 129 mice.
