Abstract
Large numbers of people worldwide undertake military service, and a substantial proportion of those serve in active combat zones. Alison Lighthall (R.N., B.S.N., M.S.N.), a former Captain in the Army Nurse Corps, has served as team leader of Fort Carson's Urgent Psychiatric Care Response Team and is a Military Behavioral Health Consultant for HAND2HAND CONTACT. Here, she describes her observations and explains her concerns about the amount of caffeine consumed by military personnel, especially those experiencing combat stress and posttraumatic stress disorder, in an interview with JCR Editor-in-Chief, Jack James.
