Abstract
ABSTRACT
Because basic aerosol research has suggested that the addition of propylene glycol to nebulizer solutions enhances the nebulizer output, especially of particles of "respirable" size less than 5μ, radioaerosol techniques were used to determine if adding propylene glycol would improve aerosol delivery of the Respirgard II (TM) nebulizer in spontaneously breathing normal human subjects. No significant differences in either deposition or penetration were found between saline control and a 20% propylene glycol solution.
