ABSTRACT
Foreign body aspiration occurs in any age group but is less common in adults. This case illustrates an unusual complication of aerosol therapy, inadvertent aspiration of an atomizer tip, in a patient with a tracheostomy that was surprisingly well-tolerated.
This case report documents inadvertent aspiration of the tip of a handheld, bulb atomizer (DeVillbiss, Somerset, PA) used by a patient with a tracheostomy for humidification. To my knowledge, this has not been reported but was well-tolerated by this patient.
