Abstract
Rhodiola rosea, also called golden root, Arctic root, or roseroot, has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, anti-apoptotic, and neuroprotective effects. It also possesses ergogenic and adaptogenic properties, improving cognitive and physical performance in conditions that challenge physiological homeostasis. This article reviews clinical evidence for the use of R. rosea in exercise performance, mood disorders, fatigue, and stress conditions. Conservation, supplement quality, pharmacokinetics, and safety are all discussed.
