ABSTRACT
A wide range of experiments in siting approaches has emerged among the various states over the past several years, including innovations both in the terms of initiative, in the terms of control, and in the use of many specific policy instruments for both providing and restricting siting. Several of the leading approaches are described, with illustrations from states that have used them, and principles are offered for state policy development.
