Abstract
A murine monoclonal anti-protein kinase CK2 β antibody was isolated and characterized. The antibody detects 1 pmol of purified recombinant CK2 β-subunit after analysis on SDS–PAGE. Alternatively undenatured CK2 β-subunit was detected by an ELISA assay either as recombinant CK2 β-subunit or in the CK2 holoenzyme (α2β2). Here, concentrations of the first antibody of 1 ng/ml still allowed the detection of the subunit. Immunoblotting of crude cellular extracts from various tissue cultures (man, mouse, and hamster), from human tumors, and the nonneoplastic tissue allowed the detection of the CK2 β-subunit. The detected epitope of this antibody was, as determined by the epitope analysis technique,123 GLSDI127.
