Abstract
One result frequently reported in the literature is that certain metals retard the rate of cement hydration. An empirical study focused on the effect of accelerators on the stabilization of K061 waste. Accelerated stabilizations yielded slightly worse results for Pb and Cd after one day of curing but significant improvements after 60 days of curing. The extent of improvement depends on the accelerator and pozzolan involved.
