Abstract
ABSTRACT
The objective of this paper is to demonstrate the utility of modeling and simulation studies in systematically minimizing the hazardous wastes generated by the metal finishing industries. The mathematical models of electroplating processes are used to understand and evaluate the consequences of design modifications, process variations and changes in shop demand. Such models provide guidelines to implement various waste reduction strategies and based on economic objectives can help optimize the shop operation.
