Abstract
ABSTRACT
Evaluation of the operational status and management of land treatment units used to treat oily, organic waste mixtures requires detailed information on the biochemical degradation process. To date no acceptable uniform analytical methodology has been available to track the degradation of materials applied to the soil matrix. This proposed analytical method has been designed to meet this information requirement. It presents new insight into monitoring active land treatment units and may be useful to demonstrate the reduction, removal, transformation, and immobilization of the organic constituents of the waste applied to the treatment unit.
