Abstract
Objective:
The vaginal natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (vNOTES) approach is being used increasingly in gynecology, but this approach's utility in urogynecology procedures is not well-known. This literature review explores the feasibility and applicability of vNOTES in urogynecology procedures.
Methods:
A comprehensive literature search was conducted on PubMed® and Google Scholar from 2000 to July 2023, using the MEsH terms vNOTES, Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopy, Uterosacral Ligament Suspension, Sacrocolpopexy, Hysteropexy, and Urogynecology. Relevant articles were reviewed for applicability and a comprehensive review was conducted.
Results:
The most commonly described procedures related to the use of vNOTES in urogynecology were uterosacral ligament suspension, aacrocolpopexy, and hysteropexy. The studies that were found also highlighted the feasibility, safety, and long-term outcomes of the vNOTES approach.
Conclusions:
The findings suggest that vNOTES can be used safely and effectively for urogynecologic procedures with comparable outcomes to conventional techniques. (J GYNECOL SURG 40:105)
