Abstract
A decline in surgical training and skill acquisition in gynecology has been widely recognized and has been receiving much attention during the past 5 years. Potential solutions have been discussed in a number of publications and forums. A system of tracking is 1 such proposal, with the idea being to provide residents opportunities to direct their training into more-specialized areas after basic training. Gynecologic surgical training, as it relates to obstetrical practice has received little attention. This article discusses the importance of gynecologic surgical training for the practicing obstetrician. (J GYNECOL SURG 38:379)
