Surgery is an ever-progressing field marked by the evolution of surgical techniques and instruments. The birth of laparoscopy brought with it innovations in surgical techniques and surgical instruments. This article reviews the adaptation of laparoscopic scissors, various scalpels, ultrasonic scalpels, staplers, and clips, enabling surgeons to mimic open techniques in a minimally invasive fashion, with improved patient satisfaction and lowered postoperative morbidity.
