Abstract
Background:
Ectopic pregnancy is a serious gynecologic condition that requires early diagnosis before rupture leads to severe hemorrhage with consequent significant morbidity and mortality.
Case:
A 34-year-old woman presented with pelvic pain and positive βhCG. A pelvic sonogram showed a right interstitial pregnancy with a normal endometrial stripe. Methotrexate treatment was effective in the presence of high βhCG levels and positive fetal heart activity.
Results:
Follow- up hysterosalpingogram revealed patency of both tubes.
Conclusions:
medical treatment for unruptured interstitial (cornual) pregnancy is effective and prevents uterine surgery that may have complications for future pregnancy. (J GYNECOL SURG 27:147)
