Abstract
Background:
Surgeries performed by the vaginal route are the most preferred techniques for addressing prolapsed pedunculated submucous leiomyomas. Nevertheless, in cases with very large and thick pedunculated leiomyomas, a vaginal approach may not be feasible.
Case:
A 49-year-old female presented with a prolapsed pedunculated submucous leiomyoma that was removed via abdominal hysterectomy.
Results:
The patient's postoperative course was uneventful and she was discharged without complications on the third postoperative day.
Conclusions:
Abdominal hysterectomy would be a reasonable option with a lower complication rate. This is an easier technique for addressing thick, pedunculated, and very large protruding submucous myomas in the vaginas of menopausal patients. (J GYNECOL SURG 28:244)
