Abstract
Background:
Cervical stenosis as a result of a loop excision procedure is a rare but late complication of this procedure. For women desiring pregnancy, in vitro fertilization (IVF) embryo transfer is very challenging.
Case:
A 35-year-old woman para 1001 presented with secondary amenorrhea from cervical stenosis 2 years after a normal spontaneous vaginal delivery, as a result of a loop excision procedure of the cervix performed 6 weeks postpartum.
Results:
Her cervical stenosis was resolved by a novel cervical procedure resulting in a successful transcervical IVF embryo transfer.
Conclusions:
Cervical factors accounts for 5% of all referrals for infertility. A novel procedure to resolve cervical stenosis and a resultant successful transcervical embryo transfer is reported. (J GYNCOL SURG 28:23)
