Abstract
Background:
Performing a supracervical hysterectomy via single incision laparoscopy (LSH- SILS) is a technically challenging procedure that was developed as part of a deliberate strategy to reduce the number and size of the accessory ports needed to perform a laparoscopic supracervical hysterectomy (LSH). The first cases of LSH-SILS with transumbilical morcellation using a 5-mm transcervical laparoscope are reported.
Cases:
LSH-SILS with transumbilical morcellation using a 5-mm transcervical laparoscope for the treatment of myomas, adenomyosis, and severe endometriosis, were performed.
Conclusions:
It was concluded that this new surgical technique is feasible, and can safely be performed in selected cases using current technology and tools, with excellent clinical and cosmetic outcomes. (J GYNECOL SURG 27:175)
