Abstract
Massive hemorrhage is potentially lethal particularly when associated with coagulopathy, hypothermia, and acidosis. The authors undertook a systematic search of the English literature to review treatment strategies for a life-threatening pelvic hemorrhage in obstetrics and gynecology. They searched the National Library of Medicine's MEDLINE®/PubMed database using the key words pelvic bleeding. Nonsurgical and surgical methods for achievement of hemostasis in the pelvic area is described. (J GYNECOL SURG 21:43)
