Abstract
Adnexal torsion with a paraovarian cyst is rare during adolescence. A case of a twisted paraovarian cyst resulting in secondary torsion of the fallopian tube in a 15-year-old virgin is reported in this article. Being an uncommon surgical emergency with no definite diagnostic features, the diagnosis is often delayed, resulting in irreversible damage to the tube. Early diagnosis can be made with the color Doppler and three- and four-dimensional ultrasonography; the former would also be helpful in predicting the viability of adnexal structures. Only a high index of suspicion and timely surgical intervention would help conserve the tube. (J GYNECOL SURG 21:129)
