Abstract
ABSTRACT
The round ligament is a vital anatomic landmark, besides being a supportive structure. Its importance comes into the limelight in a surgical obstetrics and gynecology practice. Only after identifying the round ligament(s) can surgery be initiated and performed, and the ureters and other important organs spared from trauma. A prospective study of oophorectomy at vaginal hysterectomy clearly indicates its usefulness when it is excised separately and distally from the uterus, instead of close to the uterus.
