Abstract
ABSTRACT
A retrospective study was conducted of 30 women with vaginal vault prolapse treated by means of abdominal sacral colpopexy using Gore-Tex as suspensory material between 1992 and 1996. After a mean follow-up of 23.5 months, complete vaginal vault suspension was maintained in all cases. Dyspareunia was reported by 1 patient as a postoperative complication. The objective and subjective cure rates were 100% and 96.6%, respectively. Abdominal sacral colpopexy using Gore-Tex as suspensory material provides a successful long-term cure of posthysterectomy vaginal vault prolapse, with the restoration of vaginal support and satisfactory preservation of coital function.
