Abstract
ABSTRACT
We present the case of a patient with compartment syndrome after Wertheim-Meigs operation for cervical cancer. Early fasciotomy prevented severe late sequelae. Gynecologic operations in a prolonged lithotomy position may be complicated by this entity, which can cause permanent neuromuscular deficits and kidney damage. Although this is rare, every gynecologist should be aware of this syndrome to ensure rapid and adequate treatment. (J GYNECOL SURG 12:279, 1996)
