Abstract
ABSTRACT
Clinical results, patient satisfaction, and financial costs of 70 laparoscopy assisted vaginal hysterectomy (LAVH) operations were compared with 119 abdominal hysterectomies and 50 traditional vaginal hysterectomies performed in a community hospital. The clinical indications were different in the three groups, with some overlap. The rates of complications were comparable. Duration and the final cost of LAVH were greater than those of abdominal or traditional vaginal hysterectomy. Patients tended to be more satisfied with the vaginal procedures compared with the abdominal approach. (J GYNECOL SURG 12:109, 1996)
