Operative laparoscopy can be used even for the postmenopausal patient with an adnexal mass if proper patient selection and preoperative evaluation procedures are followed. Outpatient surgery is associated with lower costs than inpatient surgery. (J GYNECOL SURG 9:43, 1993)
