Abstract
ABSTRACT
During a 9-year period, 72 patients underwent primary closure of the wound after laparotomy for tuboovarian abscess. Uneventful wound healing occurred in 68 (94%) of the patients. One patient developed a small subcutaneous wound hematoma, and 3 (4.5%) of the patients developed a wound infection. From the results of this study, there does not appear to be a markedly increased risk of wound infection after immediate skin closure after laparotomy for tuboovarian abscess.
