Abstract
ABSTRACT
This work consists of a retrospective study of 2047 patients who underwent hysteroscopy from January 1, 1985, to December 31, 1989. Hyskon was known to be used as the uterine distention agent in 1793 patients. Among the Hyskon-treated patients, the incidence of complications was as follows: pulmonary edema (0.11%), anaphylactoid reaction (0.05%), and coagulation abnormalities (0.05%). When more than 500 ml of Hyskon was used, the incidence of pulmonary edema was 1.4%. We suggest limiting Hyskon to less than 500 ml administered or 400 ml absorbed. (J GYNECOL SURG 8:219, 1992)
