Abstract
ABSTRACT
Over a 5-year period, 300 consecutive patients undergoing simple abdominal hysterectomy with or without adnexectomy had their surgery performed using either a Heaney, Masterson, or Wertheim clamp. A uniform surgical protocol was used in all patients. Only 1 patient in each group of 100 patients developed a postoperative pelvic infection. The type of clamp used had no apparent impact on the incidence of postoperative pelvic infectious morbidity. (J GYNECOL SURG 8:167, 1992)
