Abstract
ABSTRACT
Struma ovarii is a rare type of germ cell tumor. The association of this neoplasm with ascites and hydrothorax (Meigs' syndrome) has been described in scattered case reports. A case of ascites, hydrothorax, and struma ovarii in a postmenopausal female is presented, and 14 similar cases are reviewed. In any case of benign ascites and hydrothorax occurring in the female, a benign ovarian neoplasm must be included in the differential diagnosis. (J GYNECOL SURG 7:243, 1991)
