Abstract
ABSTRACT
A case of osteomyelitis pubis following a Burch retropubic urethropexy is reported. Whereas osteitis pubis is a rare complication following urologic or gynecologic procedures, osteomyelitis pubis is extremely rare. No case of osteomyelitis pubis following a Burch retropubic urethropexy has been described previously. The clinical presentation of pubic pain and tenderness with radiation to the groin and difficulty ambulating is typical. X-rays, bone scans, and gallium scans are useful diagnostic tests. Prolonged antibiotic therapy is required. Therapy is best monitored with gallium scans. (J GYNECOL SURG 6:205, 1990)
