Abstract
The severity of the issue with cheats in video games in China cannot be overlooked, yet the existing legal framework provides companies with the means to tackle these challenges at a relatively low cost. Although criminal law avenues are available to combat cheating, they come with limitations such as the inability to obtain civil damages and potential additional costs for expert assessments. Therefore, based on the experience derived from existing rulings, exploring more effective strategies to combat cheating is crucial for ensuring the long-term stable operation of video games in the Chinese market.
