Abstract
Background:
The use of platysmaplasty to manage the aging neck is well documented, with many surgeons describing novel techniques to address perceived pitfalls including persistent banding and subcutaneous irregularities.
Objective:
To demonstrate the use of the Z-plasty plastysmaplasty for management of plastymsmal banding and creation of a sharp cervicomental angle.
Materials and Methods:
The video shows a patient undergoing a platysmaplasty with the use of a Z-plasty placed at the cervicomental angle for management of platysmal banding.
Results:
The video submission demonstrates the efficacy as well as the ease of reproducibility of the Z-plasty platysmaplasty.
Conclusion:
The Z-plasty platysmaplasty technique utilized for the management of platysmal banding is successful in achieving the desired outcomes of disruption of the platysmal bands, creation of a sharp cervicomental angle, and creation of a secure suture line adequate to oppose the lateral distracting forces of a rhytidectomy.
