Abstract
An 81-year-old patient with benign prostatic hyperplasia with a history of acute myocardial infarction had undergone Memotherm urethral-stent placement because acute urinary retention 5 years previously. The stent protruded over the bladder neck without epithelialization and had recently become encrusted with vesical calculi. We used a diode laser to cut the stent and simultaneously performed laser prostatectomy. After the procedure, the patient was well and able to void easily.
