Laparoscopic Spermatic Vein Ligation in Dogs

Abstract

Laparoscopic isolation, ligation, and division of spermatic veins was performed in dogs as a feasibility study. The procedure was successful bilaterally in four adult animals. Successful ligation was confirmed by postoperative laparotomy or by venography. This procedure was simple to perform but was associated with a significant learning curve, as reflected by the operative times, which steadily decreased to less than 15 minutes per side in the final dog. There were no complications.
