Abstract
Management of urinary retention after transperineal ultrasound-guided interstitial radiation of prostate cancer poses many therapeutic problems. Herein is a case report of the handling of this problem by balloon dilatation of the prostatic urethra. Pelvic radiographs before and after balloon dilatation and a volume analysis from both studies shows that no significant alteration of seed location or irradiated volumes occurred. We therefore would recommend consideration of this treatment for urinary retention after seed implantation.
