Abstract
We report autopsy findings of a patient who died of pulmonary embolism on the fourth day after percutaneous nephrolithotomy. Histologic examination of the nephrostomy tract revealed surprisingly little damage to the adjacent renal parenchyma: a layer of necrosis, hematoma, and some leukocytic infiltration with a maximum width of 1 mm.
