Abstract
We report the results of nine patients with retroperitoneal abscesses (eight renal, one psoas). Of the eight patients who agreed to being treated by percutaneous drainage, all but one had resolution of the process, although one patient with a previously nonfunctioning left kidney underwent an elective nephrectomy. Our results suggest that percutaneous drainage of retroperitoneal abscesses is a simple and reliable technique and should be the first procedure to be contemplated in such cases.
