Abstract
A new means of percutaneous nephrolithotomy is a hybrid of retrograde and antegrade techniques. A stone basket, inserted retrograde from a ureteral catheter, serves as the target for external needle puncture. The basket is impaled by the needle, assuring capture of the externally placed guidewire. This method assures the proper access angle for stone removal percutaneously while preserving the caliceal selection possible with the retrograde technique. Our initial experience with four patients is reported.
