Abstract
We present our experience performing simultaneous bilateral stone extraction through nephrostomy tracts established during the same operative session under general anesthesia in three patients. We conclude that bilateral simultaneous percutaneous surgery for stone removal is safe and has less morbidity and a faster recovery time than open surgery. The blood loss and postoperative pain were not significantly greater than for unilateral procedures, and the hospitalization time averaged 5.6 days (range 3 to 6).
