SwiftLase: A New Technology for Char-Free Ablation in Rectal Surgery

Abstract

We describe layer-by-layer char-free ablation of hemorrhoids and other rectal lesions at very low CO₂ laser power levels with a miniature "SwiftLase" optomechanical flashscanner. Increased speed with excellent control, very shallow thermal damage, and less postoperative pain are the main advantages of the flashscan technology in rectal surgery.
