Abstract
This report discusses the constructs underlying psychoendocrine research on sexual orientation, and summarizes the evidence for differences between homosexuals and heterosexuals in (1) systemic sex hormone levels during adolescence and adulthood, and (2) the timing of sexual maturation. To date, there is no scientific basis for the use of sex hormones to treat adolescent homosexuality.
