On a side note, there was always someone at the labs carefully collecting the parts of jellyfish that glowed in the dark when you accidentally hit them with an oar. This was Osamu Shimomura who, with the help of his wife, was collecting the Ca2+ indicator aequorin and a protein that fluoresced green, from the jellyfish Aequoria. Shimomura won the Nobel Prize in 2008 for his discovery of Green Fluorescent Protein, GFP.

The rolling was probably due to the integration of ciliated cells into the surface of the embryo during gastrulation, another developmental phenomenon I attribute to a voltage change.

The line we believed to be mouth is more likely to be one of the lateral lines ventral to the mandible.
