Abstract
The Georgetown Mantra is a widely used model to frame ethical dilemmas associated with healthcare decision making. Beneficence, nonmaleficence, respect for personal autonomy, and justice comprise the Georgetown Mantra. However, ethical tools are emerging to better understand, and drive ethical decision making which relate to more complex health care issues. The Ethic of Care is one such model which has been in use as an ethical framework to discuss quality of life concerns and the complex obese patient.
