Abstract
The perioperative setting is one of the most potentially hazardous of all clinical environments. Safe care of overweight patients includes team training that promotes specific understanding of the physiological effects of positioning for the morbidly obese patient in conjunction with clearly stated policy, guidelines, and the availability of specialty equipment.
