Abstract
This article relates the firsthand account of a patient's progress from being morbidly obese, to bariatric surgery, through successful weight loss and body contouring. Commentary in this article is used to describe the role of the medical team for surgery after massive weight loss. Criteria for patient selection and the preparation for surgery are presented. Patient safety during and after surgery is discussed.
