Abstract
The Lower Eastside Service Center, Inc. (LESC) HIV CTRPN/Primary Care Unit has been consistent in providing HIV education, with the view toward getting clients to take responsibility on negotiating and insisting upon safer sex practices.
The following paper will outline issues pertaining to sex, sexuality, and safer sex practices. Focus will be on these issues in the context of the professional worker/client relationship. Additionally, this information can be applied by the worker in his/her nonwork life.
LESC is one of the largest nonhospital substance abuse treatment centers in New York City. The agency's mission is to help individuals and families combat drug dependency and find a new beginning. LESC provides substance abuse treatment, mental health care, and social services for those whose lives have been disrupted by chemical dependency.
LESC's CTRPN/Primary Care Unit provides confidential HIV counseling and testing, comprehensive medical care, and case management services.
